The Influence of Korean Pop Culture

Korea-Japan World Cup 2002, which ended with the entry of Korea as a world power of the big four in terms of getting a famous Korean football in the eyes of the world. An example is some time before, during, and after the hurly burly of the World Cup, several private television stations in the country to compete aggressively displaying movies or soap operas, Korean soap operas. In fact, there are some Korean soap operas are 'success' on the screen, you name it and Endless Love WinterSonata . Two country-made soap opera ginseng has successfully attracted the attention of some communities in Indonesia, even some soap star has become an idol in the ground water.
The situation above is a fraction of what is called Hallyu-term made a significant impact on Korea's modern culture of other countries-that began to spread in many Asian countries, including Indonesia. Perhaps many do not realize that Indonesia did not escape the influence of Korean culture.

One picture is easy to find out what is known as Hallyu is this term could equal terms with so much influence of Bollywood in some Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. It may seem too early to mention that Indonesia was 'drifting' in Hallyu. Yet, when viewed more deeply, Indonesia also was also not much different from other Asian countries such as China, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and even Japan in terms of level of influence for countries Hallyu against it.

For nearly 50 years since the release of the Japanese occupation of Korea, the Korean government imposed a ban on entry of Japanese culture. Imports of Japanese music and movies or anything that smells of Japanese culture has long had difficulty. This is due to the persistence of a sense of sentiment over 35 years of Japanese colonialism in Korea in the early 20th century. However, in 1998 the South Korean government lifted the ban it and start with what is called the rise of Japanese influence in Korea. There should also note that although during his lifetime ban on the entry of Japan into the Korean culture in place, not the least of Koreans who remain can receive and enjoy a variety of Japanese cultural products. Given this, Korea can be considered to be 'left behind' in terms of affected Japan in the 90s, because other Asian countries including Indonesia have long been accustomed to or affected by, or modern Japanese pop culture, whether through film, music, and cartoons.

Since the lifting of restrictions, the situation of Korean pop culture in this case music, film, fashion, and so forth, began to be affected again by the Japanese. Korean youth fond of anything that smells of Japan. Sales of Japanese songs, and even beat the record sales of the singer in the country. Japanese films also started to get heart in Korean society. These games from Japan were also beginning to gain a place in the hearts of Korean teenagers. What's interesting is what started favored by Korean teenagers it is something that is still much hated by the old who still remembered the bitterness of the ban use of Korean language and things that smelled of Korea during the Japanese occupation first.

But despite it all, from the entry of Japanese culture with a bit more freedom also has colored Korean pop culture change in this case music and movies-a topic that will be discussed at the end of this paper.
